Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use LIGHTSCAPES?

1. No more lights to buy, store, or untangle. We are a pure rental service and provide everything necessary to complete your installation.

2. Selection. With our inventory you can choose clear lights this year, multi-color lights next year, and icicles the following year without purchasing new lights each season.

3. Time savings. Most homeowners spend at least one full day installing their exterior lighting. What is a day of your time worth to you?

4. RISK. Every builder will advise homeowners not to walk on their roofs as it can be VERY dangerous for the inexperienced person. Broken tiles are easily repaired; injuries can be substantial from falls off the roof.

How much do you charge?

Fees are based on two key areas: the amount of lighting necessary and the degree of difficulty in completing the installation. Fees vary widely based on whether you have a one or two story home, composition roof or tile, and pitch of the roof.

I have a one story home, what are your minimum fees?

Our minimum fees for a one story home are $ 395 and for a two story home are $ 495. This includes all design, rental, installation, and removal fees.

When do you remove the lighting?

Our removals occur between January 2nd and 20th of each year. We contact all clients after Christmas to coordinate our lighting removal schedule.

How do I know you will return to remove the lighting?

Unlike other companies who sell you product and may or may not include removal in their fees, you know that we will be back because we need the return of our lighting in order to maintain our low fees.

Why won’t you install my lighting, it’s almost new?

First of all LIGHTSCAPES purchases and installs only premium rated products. This allows us to guarantee the performance of all installed items. Secondly, in providing all the product it is not necessary for you to be home at the time of the installation or to have to search for the extension cord that you used on another project last summer. And finally, it eliminates any liability concerns should a problem arise from the installation or the product.

Are you insured?

We carry both general liability and workers compensation insurance. Copies of both policies are carried by the installers for your review.

What types of lights do you offer?

We offer C9 lighting in both clear and multi color transparent, and icicle style lights in either clear or multi-color. We anticipate adding LED lighting to our inventory in 2009 as the prices of this style lighting are currently cost prohibitive.

Can you install lighting to the bushes in my front yard?

Yes, we can install lighted nets to your shrubs and bushes, provided there is sufficient power available. Fees for bushes start at $50. ea. Installing nets to the bushes can be a fun family activity and homeowners can save some money by completing this on their own.

Why won’t you install lighting in my trees?

Trees require a significant amount of lighting and therefore require large amounts of power, which is generally unavailable. A 15 foot tall pine tree may require as much as 4 - 20 amp circuits just for the lighting for this tree. Further, we all have our own preferences for how lighting is installed in trees. Some people prefer a limited amount of lighting to simply accent the tree. Others prefer a cluster of lighting or lighting installed in a wavy pattern. Still others prefer every limb to be wrapped. For these reasons we don’t install lighting in any trees.

What do I do if I have a problem with the lighting?

Contact us. We strive to complete all repairs within 48 hours of your notifying us.

How do I proceed?

Estimates are FREE. Contact us with your name, address, phone number, style of lighting desired, and your gate code. We will estimate your home and contact you within three days as to both the fees and when we can complete your installation.

How do you install the lighting?

We utilize both clips and staples for installation. Our preferred installation is to staple the lighting with a very special and short staple to the bottom of the eves. This method offers the greatest lighting refraction off the home and adds both stature and size to the home. Further, by stapling ONLY to the underside of the fascia boards we virtually eliminate the future occurrence of dry rot from water penetrating the staple holes. We utilize clips for the gutters as they are very low profile, yet are sturdy enough to hold the lights firmly in place throughout the holiday season.

I own a commercial building, can you assist me?

YES. We complete lighting on numerous commercial buildings and strip centers every year. Installation is completed utilizing a specially designed low profile clip for commercial structures. We begin each season with over 20,000 clips in stock.
